I left Honolulu in pursuit of accelerated growth and doing impactful design for tech in San Francisco.
I have 7+ years of experience working as a proactive and detail-oriented art director, designer, and project manager in Honolulu and San Francisco. I’ve done work for many companies and organizations including: HONOLULU Magazine, Interisland Terminal, Hello Makana, SF Design Week, and Toca Boca. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts, Design from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2010, and a Product Management certificate of completion from General Assembly SF.
I am a proud member of AIGA—the professional association for design—and served on the board of AIGA Honolulu for six years with four of those years as chapter president. Additionally, I served 2 years on the AIGA board nominations committee.
Greatest Achievement
Though I've been honored with several awards and recognitions, I believe my greatest achievement is having formed, inspired, and mobilized communities with design.
In 2013, I initiated and worked in the trenches to launch Honolulu Design Week, a biennial week-long suite of events that mobilizes, inspires, educates, and celebrates design. It was the product of an empowered board of 9 community leaders and numerous volunteers, in addition to the fostering of strategic partnerships with design vendors, media, and key organizations. I've also helped to launch two creative and collaborative community spaces in Honolulu, R/D and Kakaako Agora, both which are now closed.
What’s Next
I've spent years fearlessly leading and working in the Honolulu design community, so now working on my own career growth in San Francisco. I’m passionate about tech; specifically what tech and impactful design can do for good. After 2 years of doing contract work in SF, I want to dedicate myself to a company and team that is agile and innovative, and values design at the top level.
I am seeking an art director, producer, or product manager position. I aspire to contribute my best work, yet still be challenged daily. I never want to stop growing.
Thank you!
